The Angels finally acquired the left-handed reliever they've been looking for. On Friday, December 9th, the Angels traded Alexi Casilla to the Minnesota Twins for J.C. Romero.
This trade will boost an already dominant bullpen. Romero appeared in 68 games in 2005 and had a 3.47 ERA. He does have control problems as he walked 39 batters in 57 innings. A little time with Bud Black in the bullpen and the control issues should be fixed.
Alexi Casilla is another middle infield prospect for the Angels. Alexi did show flashes of great speed stealing 49 bases. He doesn't possess the power and the other skills that Howie Kendrick and Brandon Wood have so this makes him expendable.
This trade will definitely help the Angels pitching staff. Hopefully this will be the spark that sets off more Angel trades this offseason. |
