Game Recap #6. Angels 1, Yankees 10
Bartolo Colon took the mound for the Halos on Saturday and received a rude welcoming from the Yankees. Colon got creamed like a bagel giving up seven earned runs in just a measly two innings.
This is Bartolo’s second bad outing of the season. His ERA now is well over twelve. Colon had a 1,2,3, first inning but got roughed up a bit in the second. He gave a homerun to Alex Rodriguez of course, a three-run homer to Posada and an RBI double to Derek Jeter, putting the Angels offense in comeback mode nearly the whole game.
The Angels offense was also poor. Not one player in the starting lineup got more than one hit. The offense was shutdown by the Yankees starting and relief staff.
The loss puts the Angels back at .500 and second place in the AL West. The Angels take on the Texas Rangers tomorrow.
Player of the game: Brendan Donnelly – Yes, that’s how poorly the Angels played, a reliever getting player of the game. Donnelly shut down the Yanks an inning and a third.
Disappointment – Bartolo Colon – Colon gave up seven earned runs in two innings, collecting his first loss of the season.
Next game: April 10th, Monday vs. Texas Rangers
On the mound: John Lackey (0-1, 11.25 ERA) vs. Kameron Loe (0-1, 2.70 ERA)
Angels record: 3-3
