People sometimes think that yelling and screaming are all a Major League manager can do. Thank god we still have managers like Tony LaRussa. I'm sure he does his fair sharing of yelling but usually it's always behind closed doors.

Tony has won manager of the year 4 times, they just don't give those things out for free. Tony has had his ups and downs as a manager and a player. The one thing though that you can say about Tony he's always been a winner wherever he has played or managed. Now not too many people can say that.

Their is so much more to Tony than just his ability to take a team and mold it into a winner. Tony has a love for animals that is probably second to none. Tony started the Animal Rescue Mission after he found a stray kitten at Oakland Coliseum. Tony has always been a giving man, something maybe not every fan gets to see. Tony's animal rescue has saved a lot of animals in part to Tony's unselfish dedication.

Just like baseball Tony does the best he can in whatever he does. That's why Tony is a winner on and off the field. We might only see Tony for the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals but many see him for a lot more. Just ask some of the furry friends who now have new homes.
