The Orioles continue to have hard times on the road. Monday, they fell to the Yankees, 13-8. Yesterday’s loss keeps them just half a game ahead of the Yanks in the AL East.

``I think the last few weeks; we've given everything we have. We're just coming out on the wrong side of it,'' manager Lee Mazzilli said.

It has indeed been a rough few weeks. Baltimore has lost 11 of their last 13 games. Its pitchers have struggled and overall the team just has not performed.

Mazzilli spoke to his infield players during the third inning after watching New York begin to score. Unfortunately, his pep talk did little to help matters.

Melvin Mora committed two errors. The Yankees went on to score four more runs.

Pitcher Rodrigo Lopez allowed 10 runs in just three-plus innings. A dismal showing, but on par with recent showings from the Orioles pitching staff.

But pitching wasn’t the only problem for Baltimore. They went scoreless until Chris Gomez’s home run in the sixth which also brought home Sal Fasano. No Orioles crossed home plate again until the ninth. Eli Marrero’s sacrifice fly brought in Miguel Tejada, but it was not enough. The game ended in 9 ½ innings.

The Orioles move into a four-game series versus the first place Boston Red Sox on Thursday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
