2009 Season Preview: Houston Astros
The Astros made a late charge and finished the season with a very inflated 86-75 record; inflated because they were outscored by 31 runs for the season. Without any real improvement in the offseason, Houston should fall back to a win total in the 70's.
Impeccable Timing Or Simple Overachieving?
The Astros have two separate eight-game winning streaks since August and are currently winners of their past six and may Ike out the Brewers.
Grading The Deal: Tejada Traded To Houston
For Houston, this deal has plenty of plusses. They don't trade any of their top prospects, and in return they get Tejada, who with Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee, will make up one of the better 3-4-5 in all of baseball.
Grading The Deal: Huff To Houston
In Houston, they must be singing in the streets as they finally were able to acquire a proven hitter to match the quality arms they have amassed. Huff, while not an upper echelon hitter, still provides the Astros with a very capable bat from the left side and gives manager Phil Garner options now when filling out his line-up card.
Astros Make Hard Business Choices
We here at RealGM are paid in Valentine’s candygrams from our voracious readership to ignore the sentimental side and stick to business. Simply put, Bags is not worth $17 M, and his mammoth salary is a drain on resources the team needs elsewhere.
A Nail Biting Blowout
We just witnessed one team crush another by one run. After game four’s 1-0 White Sox victory, I started to realize that winning close ones is more impressive than pounding the other team. In a World Series marked by close games and bum closers, the consistent ability of the White Sox to prevail over the Astros proved who was baseball’s best.
Astros Are The Frontrunner In National League
The Astros now stand at 59-48, two games ahead of the Washington Nationals for the wild card and while success bloomed late once again in Houston, the formula stayed the same.
Biggio Deserves Recognition
Forget the fact that Craig Biggio roke into the record books yesterday by being hit by a pitch for the 268th time, Biggio should get the respect any future Hall of Famer deserves.

2010 Season Preview: Texas Rangers
The Rangers should be competitive again and also better offensively with a healthy Josh Hamilton and Vladimir Guerrero, but their pitching staff is probably one season away.

2010 Season Preview: Toronto Blue Jays
JP Riccardi and Roy Halladay are out. Alex Anthopoulos is in and though the Jays absolutely won't be in the playoffs, their rebuilding efforts may be shorter than expected.
