Pirates Release Morris

AP - Matt Morris was released Sunday by the Pirates after failing to pitch past the second inning on Saturday night against the Phillies, as reported by the Associated Press.

The decision to cut the veteran Morris will cost the Pirates more than $10M, besides what they already have paid him this season. He is making $10,037,283, or about one-fifth of the Pirates’ payroll, and has a $1M buyout for 2009. [READ]
