| 9th May, 2008 - 8:36 am | The Hartford Courant - Robinson Cano misses his mentor Larry Bowa as a coach in New York, according to The Hartford Courant.
Bowa knows more about the second base position than any manager or coach Cano has ever had but left for the Dodgers this season with Manager Joe Torre.
Cano has struggled this season, batting .172 after hitting a home run and a double on Thursday.
"He needs to relax a little bit. He's getting some pitches to hit, and he's fouling them back. I think he wants to get 10 hits in one at-bat. He works hard. Obviously, hitting has come easy to him, and this is some adversity he's got to go through," Bowa said of Cano.
"I'm sure they're staying on top of him," Bowa added. "Robby's the kind of kid that you don't tell him what he wants to hear all the time. You have to tell him the truth. And I'm sure they have guys doing that." [READ] |
