Wagner Apologizes; Mets Clear Air
17th May, 2008 - 9:55 am
Newsday - Mets closer Billy Wagner apologized for calling his teammates out on Thursday night after a loss to the Nationals as the team began to clear the air, according to Newsday.

"[Wagner] said he didn't mean to single me out," Carlos Delgado said. "I don't know how I got singled out because all the position players happened to be over there. [Thursday] was a tough game. Some of the emotions got the best of him, but it's not a big deal. We'll turn the page."

"To clear the air, to get guys talking to each other, sometimes it's necessary," David Wright said. "I'm not a big fan of meetings, but in this case I think it accomplished everything it needed to accomplish. Nobody's going to hit any better, nobody's going to pitch any better, but we have a greater appreciation for each other as teammates. We accomplished the goal of kind of settling down and worrying about baseball." [READ]
