| 18th May, 2008 - 12:11 pm | The New York Post - There has been a lot of speculation that reliever Joba Chamberlain could be moved into the rotation this season, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi admitted on Saturday that it may not happen in 2008, according to The New York Post.
The decision would be based on the team's dire bullpen needs, not because they don't want Joba in the rotation.
"It's possible, yes," Girardi said when asked whether leaving Chamberlain in the bullpen could be done out of need.
However, he will be a starter in New York at some point in the not-so-distant future.
"He's going to go in the rotation at some point," GM Brian Cashman said. "We'll let you know when. He's in the bullpen right now. We have a plan for Joba. We will let him know first." [READ] |
