The Boston Herald - Dustin Pedroia confirmed on Saturday that he has been approached by the Red Sox organization about agreeing to a long-term deal with the team, according to The Boston Herald.

The second baseman claims that the team confronted him twice last winter about a deal, but the talks were put on hold as his switched agents.

"I understand what comes along with it," said Pedroia, who will be arbitration eligible following the 2009 season. "You probably give up a little to get a little."

"I’m one of those guys who would be all for it. I’m definitely interested," he added.

"I’m going to be who I am for a long time and I have the confidence in my ability," Pedroia said. "I want to be here for a long time. I’m a winning player and I think they know that." [READ]
