Yanks Irked By Ortiz All-Star Promotion

New York Times - State Farm is sponsoring a "Call Your Shot" promotion at the Homerun Derby during All-Star Game festivities at Yankee Stadium.

The concept gives David Ortiz the chance to mimic Babe Ruth's famous called home run against the Chicago Cubs in the 1932 World Series. The promotion also lets fans predict where Ortiz will hit the ball through an online contest.

The Yankees were unaware of the promotion until a reporter contacted them Thursday night. Even though the game is at Yankee Stadium, the events surrounding All-Star Weekend are managed by Major League Baseball. It is therefore unlikely that the Yankees could stop Ortiz from playing the Babe in The House That Ruth Built. [READ]
