25th May, 2008 - 4:40 pm
ESPN - Umpire Jerry Crawford was struck in the head by the bat of Carlos Lee on Sunday afternoon, delaying the Philadelphia-Houston game roughly fifteen minutes, according to The Associated Press.

Lee fouled off a 2-2 pitch from Cole Hamels, and his bat smacked Crawford on the follow-through. The umpire stripped off his helmet and jogged to the Houston dugout with a bloody gash on the left side of his head.

Lee hit a home run later when the at-bat continued to give the Astros an early lead. [READ]
