Pedro Leaves Start, Should Be OK For Next

ESPN - Pedro Martinez left a start on Saturday against the Rockies in the fourth inning because of tightness in his right groin, according to ESPN.com.

However, the starter is expected to make his next scheduled appearance for the Mets after the All-Star break.

"I thought I could at least give it a try and see how I felt," said Martinez, who was checked by doctors immediately after leaving the mound. "Jerry [Manuel] said 'No,' and was really stubborn this time."

"There's no question he'll make his next start," Manuel said. "Any time those guys do something out of the ordinary, we try to be proactive." [READ]
