Yanks Think Joba, Matsui Will Return Soon
16th August, 2008 - 5:30 pm
ESPN - The Yankees are confident that injured starter Joba Chamberlain and injured outfielder Hideki Matsui will return to the lineup soon, according to The Associated Press.

Chamberlain threw for the first time on Friday, making 25 tosses from about 65 feet. "It was better than yesterday," Chamberlain said. "Just a few more throws, but I got looser quicker."

He has been out since August 4th, when New York removed him from a start with shoulder soreness.

Matsui, who has been out since late June, homered in his first rehab start on Saturday and is hoping to return to Bronx soon.

"He did hit a home run, and it was not wind-blown. It was a legitimate hit," Girardi said. "So much depends on how he feels today. Until I get a report today, I don't know." [READ]
