Upton Apologizes For 'Mental Lapse'

ESPN - Tampa Bay outfielder B.J. Upton has apologized for a "mental lapse" in recent weeks, claiming that he doesn't want to distract the first-place Rays, according to The Associated Press.

"There's no excuse for it. It can't happen, especially in the middle of a pennant race," said Upton.

Upton has been benched three times in the past two weeks for not hustling by manager Joe Madden. [READ]
