The Boston Herald - Red Sox outfielder J.D. Drew could land on the disabled list with back issues as he has not been healing as the team had hoped, according to The Boston Herald.

Boston may have no other option but to place him on the 15-day disabled list.

Drew, who hasn’t played since Aug. 17, would be eligible for activation Sept. 2 if the club decides to ultimately put him on the DL.

"He’s not been available for a week now and we have a day off (today)," Manager Terry Francona said. "I’d like to give him a chance to not do (the DL), but it’s always a possibility." [READ]
