Melvin Opts To Stick With Lyon As Closer

Arizona Republic - Diamondbacks' Manager Bob Melvin has decided to stick with Brandon Lyon as the team's closer, according to Arizona Republic.

Lyon has given up ten earned runs in his past 5 1/3 innings, but none of the damage has come in a save situation. None of his rough outings have directly cost Arizona a game, either.

His ERA has shot up to 4.96, but Lyon is 25 for 30 in save situations this season and at one point had a 25-inning scoreless streak.

"I think he's earned the right to go out there in a save situation, if indeed he was to lose his job for a period of time," Melvin said. [READ]
