Red Sox Put Beckett On Disabled List
29th August, 2008 - 6:45 pm
MLB.com - The Red Sox have placed pitcher Josh Beckett on the disabled list with a right elbow strain, according to MLB.com.

Beckett visited orthopedist Dr. James Andrews for his ailing pitching elbow on Friday, and Boston came away impressed.

"Awesome," Manager Terry Francona said of the news. "I guess from our standpoint. I don't know if he used that word."

"I think he just wanted to go down there and reassure himself that he's OK," left-hander Jon Lester said. "I don't blame him at all. He makes his living off his arm. You want to make sure everything is OK."

They placed him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 18 - when he last pitched. [READ]
