Newsday - Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriguez was asked about being passed by the Blue Jays in the standings on Sunday, and ended up implying that New York is done, according to Newsday.

"Toronto's playing really well," Rodriguez said. "I'll tell you what, a lot of people should be happy they're not in the playoff race because they'd be the scariest team, with the 1-2 punch they've got over there with [Roy] Halladay and [A.J.] Burnett."

The Yankees are ten games back of Tampa Bay for first-place in the AL East, with both the Red Sox and Blue Jays in between. The Twins are also ahead of the Yankees in the Wild Card race.

"I'm too tired to answer that; you confused me," he responded to a reporter, more than likely realizing how his comments sounded.

"What I'm saying is if Toronto was to get in the playoffs, they would be the scariest team to face, by far, with those two," A-Rod added. "I'm not saying anything else." [READ]
