Mets Poised Not To Repeat Historic Collapse

New York Post - With 17 games to go last season the Mets held a seven-game lead over the Phillies before the bottom dropped out, but they appeared poised to hold on in 2008, according to New York Post.

This year, with 17 games left, the Mets have a 3 1/2 game advantage in the NL East over the Phillies.

"I don't think anybody in here is thinking about what happened last year," third baseman David Wright said. "I just think we're going out and finding ways to win. Last year ... It seemed like everything went wrong. This year when a part of the game goes awry for a day or two another part of the game steps up and gets the job done and that's the big difference."

New York has gained a pair of games on Philadelphia this week, with the Phillies dropping their last two games while the Mets are in the midst of the three-game win streak. [READ]
