1. Boston Red Sox: 19.8 (9.6, 10.2)

The Red Sox have surged in the second half at the plate and are now tied for first in OPS with .811.

2. Chicago Cubs: 19.2 (8.7, 10.5)

The Cubs have 1,138 strikeouts thus far in 2008, the best in baseball.

3. New York Mets: 18.7 (8.7, 10.1)

Who has been the best hitter on the Mets since the break?

David Wright: .321/.394/.571 (11 homers, 39 RBIs)
Carlos Beltran: .307/.386/.519 (8 homers, 36 RBIs)
Carlos Delgado: .294/.338/.628 (18 homers, 52 RBIs)

4. Chicago White Sox: 17.8 (8.1, 9.8)

Chicago leads the MLB in homers with 210.

5. Philadelphia Phillies: 17.6 (7.8, 9.9)

Utley has an .898 at home and .921 on the road this season.

6. Tampa Bay Rays: 17.5 (6.6, 10.9)

Carlos Pena, Evan Longoria, and a finally healthy Rocco Baldelli all have OPS over .900 since the break.

7. New York Yankees: 17.3 (7.8, 9.5)

Alex Rodriguez has a 1.005 OPS since the break while Derek Jeter is batting .317 as the left side of the Yankees infield prepares for a turnaround in 2009.

8. St. Louis Cardinals: 17.2 (8.0, 9.2)

Felipe Lopez has been an entirely different player since joining the Cardinals in August, hitting .373/.430/.530.

9. Toronto Blue Jays: 17.2 (7.6, 10.5)

The Blue Jays have a team ERA of 3.52, first in baseball.

10. Los Angeles Angels: 17.2 (6.6, 10.6)

Mark Teixeira, Vladimir Guerreo, Torii Hunter, Mike Napoli, and Garret Anderson all have OPS over .885 since the break.

11. Minnesota Twins: 17.2 (7.6, 9.5)

Joe Nathan has four blown saves since the All-Star break but still has an 0.84 ERA. Meanwhile, Francisco Liriano has a 1.57 ERA since his return.

12. Texas Rangers: 17.0 (8.8, 8.2)

Kevin Millwood has a 2.76 ERA in August.

13. Milwaukee Brewers: 16.7 (6.5, 10.2)

The Brewers have a team ERA of 3.30 in the second half.

14. Detroit Tigers: 16.4 (8.0, 8.4)

Justin Verlander has a 6.23 ERA since the break.

15. Houston Astros: 16.3 (6.5, 9.8)

Roy Oswalt is 8-1 with a 1.94 ERA since the break.

16. Baltimore Orioles: 16.3 (8.3, 8.0)

Jeremy Guthrie has a 3.57 ERA this season.

17. Atlanta Braves: 15.6 (7.1, 8.5)

Jair Jurrjens has a 3.62 ERA and 6.94 K/9 ratio.

18. Cleveland Indians: 15.5 (6.7, 8.9)

Fausto Carmona had a 3.10 ERA before the break and 6.98 since then.

The Dodgers had a .704 OPS in July and .783 in August largely thanks to Manny Ramirez.

With 135 stolen bases, the Rockies lead the entire MLB.

21. Cincinnati Reds: 14.3 (5.5, 8.8)

Since the All-Star break, Edinson Volquez has a 5.12 ERA, 6.75 for Aaron Harang, but Bronson Arroyo has a 2.84 ERA.

22. Arizona Diamondbacks: 14.2 (4.7, 9.5)

Adam Dun has a .929 OPS in 86 at bats with the D-Backs.

23. Florida Marlins: 14.2 (4.7, 9.5)

Hanley Ramirez is batting .263/.401/.441 since the All-Star break while Dan Uggla, teammate on the Marlins and on that NL team at Yankee Stadium, is batting .220/.330/.407.

24. Pittsburgh Pirates: 13.9 (6.0, 7.9)

Nate McLouth hit just .226/.309/.310 in August.

25. Seattle Mariners: 13.6 (5.6, 8.0)

Raul Ibanez is hitting .381/.446/.665 since the break.

26. San Francisco Giants: 13.1 (4.0, 9.1)

The Giants have hit one homer for every 57.8 at bats, easily the worst in baseball.

27. Kansas City Royals: 12.7 (4.0, 9.1)

Gil Meche has a 2.59 ERA and 9.55 K/9 rate since the All-Star break.

28. Oakland Athletics: 12.0 (3.0, 9.1)

Brad Ziegler has a 0.52 ERA, but a K/9 ratio of just 4.33.

29. Washington Nationals: 11.7 (3.7, 8.0)

Elijah Dukes has a 1.036 OPS since the All-Star break.

30. San Diego Padres: 11.6 (3.1, 8.5)
