Will Rivera Throw Last Pitch At Stadium?

Newsday - Andy Pettitte will start the final game at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 21, but closer Mariano Rivera could throw the final pitch, according to Newsday.

"I think obviously, it probably should be [Mariano Rivera]," manager Joe Girardi said. "It would seem appropriate."

Girardi might put Rivera in the game no matter what kind of lead the Yankees have.

"I want to be able to close the last game at Yankee Stadium," Rivera said.

Rivera could even pitch if the Yankees are trailing in the top of the ninth. [READ]
