| 18th September, 2008 - 9:14 am | Chicago Sun-Times - A contract extension appears to be in the works for Cubs manager Lou Piniella as the team nears the NL Central title, according to Chicago Sun-Times.
The team has reportedly already had preliminary talks with Piniella about a new deal, and an agreement is expected to come at the end of the season.

"But it's a grind. Making decisions with two weeks to go, I don't think it's a smart thing to do, and I think they would agree with me. Let's get the job done, and then we'll address it."
Piniella has one guaranteed year left on a three-year contract worth about $10 million, and the Cubs have an option for 2010. [READ] |
