Maine Says He Can Pitch, Mets Aren't Sure

New York Daily News - John Maine claims that he's ready to pitch, but the Mets aren't sure that he's ready to return to the mound, according to New York Daily News.

Maine was scheduled to face three batters in a 15-to 20-pitch simulated game on Friday afternoon at Turner Field.

If Maine feels good over the weekend following the simulated game, the Mets could activate him on Monday as a possible savior in the bullpen.

However, pitching Coach Dan Warthen doubts Maine will be healthy enough to pitch.

"I just don't see the arm responding greatly," Warthen said. [READ]
