A's Cust Sets AL Mark With 187th Strikeout

ESPN - Athletics designated hitter Jack Cust struck out twice on Friday night to break the American League record for strikeouts in a season, according to Associated Press.

Cust struck out on a checked swing against Seattle right-hander Felix Hernandez to lead off the second inning, tying Rob Deer's AL record of 186 K's, and fanned again with one out and a runner on second in the fourth to set the record.

He also went into Friday night's game with a league-leading 101 walks. [READ]
