Maine Headed To Mets' Bullpen

New York Daily News - Pitcher John Maine is headed to the bullpen of the Mets to try and help reverse the team's recent struggles, according to New York Daily News.

Maine, out since late August with a bone spur in his right shoulder, threw a simulated game prior to Monday night's loss to the Cubs.

"I felt fine," said Maine. "I thought the ball came out of my hand a little better. There's not much more I can do. There's not much pain, so I'm fine. I think I'm good to go."

Manager Jerry Manuel was impressed, as well.

"He threw very well," Manuel said. "I was impressed with the life he had on a number of pitches. It's a situation where we can be a little more optimistic at this point. (But) it depends on how he responds and those types of things." [READ]
