Brewers Edge Mets For NL Wild Card
28th September, 2008 - 5:05 pm
Andrew Perna/RealGM - The Brewers have made the postseason for the first time since 1982 after defeating the Cubs on Sunday and watching the Mets lose to the Marlins.

CC Sabathia pitched nine innings of one-run ball against Chicago, striking out seven for his 17th win of the season.

New York lost 4-2 to Florida at Shea Stadium, the final game ever played there, to end their year on the final day of the regular season for the second-straight September.

The game was tied at 2 apiece heading into the eighth, but Scott Schoeneweis and Luis Ayala combined to give up two runs in the inning.

Damion Easley pinch hit with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and walked with Ryan Church on deck.

Church flied out to deep right, ending the Mets season.

The Brewers will take on the Phillies in the NLDS. [READ]
