Scout: Mets' Core Hitters Just Don't Get It Done

SI.com - The Mets were once again unable to make the postseason, largely due to the lack of depth in their bullpen, but some baseball people blame their talented core of hitters: Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, David Wright, and Carlos Delgado.

"That group of four -- Beltran, Reyes, Wright and Delgado -- should be good enough to get to the playoffs," one scout said. "But that group of guys for some reason just doesn't get it done."

"I feel totally different this year than last year," said Mets' owner Jeff Wilpon said. "I think last year we underachieved. This year, we overachieved." [READ]
