How Does Yankees' 13-Season Streak Measure Up?
29th September, 2008 - 4:59 pm
Christopher Reina/RealGM - The Yankees' streak of 13 consecutive playoff appearances began with Buck Showalter in 1995 and ended with Joe Girardi in his first season as manager after replacing Joe Torre.

Though reaching the postseason is less difficult than it was prior to the three-division league and the addition of the Wildcard, it remains an accomplishment that not all teams get to enjoy regularly.

The Yankees have had more playoff appearances in that 13-season span than 21 other teams have had during their entire existence.

Arizona: 4
Baltimore: 10
Chicago White Sox: 8
Cincinnati: 12
Cleveland: 10
Colorado: 2
Detroit: 12
Florida: 2
Houston: 9
Kansas City: 7
L.A. Angels: 7
Milwaukee: 3
Minnesota: 12
N.Y. Mets: 7
Philadelphia: 11
San Diego: 5
Seattle: 4
Tampa Bay: 1
Texas: 3
Toronto: 5
Washington: 1

The Braves, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, A's, Pirates, Giants and Cardinals have all reached the postseason 13 or more times.

The Yankees have reached the postseason 47 separate times. [READ]
