Brewers Hold On, Force Fourth Game
4th October, 2008 - 10:18 pm
Andrew Perna/RealGM - The Phillies loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning, but the Brewers held on for a 4-1 victory, forcing a fourth game on Sunday in Milwaukee.

Dave Bush pitched 5 1/3 innings while allowing one earned run on five hits, and the Brewers bullpen was near perfect until Salomon Torres come on to pitch in the ninth.

Jamie Moyer, who started for the Phillies, struggled through four innings. He allowed two runs on four hits, throwing 90 pitches.

Ryan Howard singled off Torres to begin the ninth, then pitch-hitter Greg Dobbs singled to put two runners on with no outs.

Shane Victorino poked another single over third to load the bases for Pedro Feliz, who grounded into a double play (third to second to first).

Howard appeared to score on the play, but umpires called the runners (scored and third) back because of an interference call of Victorino, who ran upright into second.

That made it second and third with two outs for Carlos Ruiz, who promptly grounded out to Torres to end the game.

J.J. Hardy went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while Price Fielder, who entered the game without a hit in the series, went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.

Howard was 2-for-4 for the Phillies with an RBI in the loss. [READ]
