Burnett In No Hurry To Talk To Blue Jays
10th October, 2008 - 7:45 am
Toronto Star - A.J. Burnett is in no hurry to talk with the Blue Jays about a new contract.

Toronto has called Burnett their top off-season priority, but he could make them wait until November to begin possible negotiations.

"I’m not going to waste their time with that, or put myself through that exercise if I know it’s an exercise in futility," agent Darek Braunecker said.

Burnett was 18-10 with a 4.07 ERA in 34 starts for the Jays in 2008.

"He’s got till fifteen days after the World Series (to decide on the opt-out)," Braunecker added. "I don’t know if it should or would take all fifteen days to make that decision. If he does so, it’s probably going to be sooner rather than later." [READ]
