30 Years Later, LA Still Giving Up Playoff RBIs To Phillies' Pitchers
10th October, 2008 - 6:03 pm
Christopher Reina/RealGM - Brett Myers drove in Carlos Ruiz with an RBI single in the 2nd inning and then singled Jayson Werth and Greg Dobbs in the third inning, giving him three RBIs for the game.

There are only two other pitchers in NLCS history to drive in at least three runs: Steve Carlton and Tom Glavine.

Just over 30 years ago on October 6th, 1978, Carlton hit a three-run homer off Don Sutton at Dodger Stadium.

He later singled home Tim McCarver in the top of the 6th inning. Ted Sizemore also scored on the hit after a throwing error, but a fifth RBI wasn't granted.

In 1996, Glavine had a bases-loaded triple off Donovan Osborne of the Cardinals in Game 7 of the NLCS.

Myers went on to get another hit in the 4th inning, marking the first time a pitcher collected three hits in an NLCS game. [READ]
