Lack Of Non-White Players To Affect Boston In Free Agency?

FoxSports - Ken Rosenthal of Fox makes an argument in a column on Tuesday that the Red Sox have a dearth of non-white players on their roster, which could make landing free agents more difficult.

"Our player-personnel decision making is completely color-blind and always will be," Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein said.

The Red Sox, who have drafted African-Americans with their second pick in each of the past two drafts, are not the only team with a shortage of black players: Only 8.2 percent of major leaguers in 2007 were African-American, according to Richard Lapchick, the director of the University of Central Florida's Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports.
