Remember how much Twins general manager Terry Ryan received from the Yankees for Chuck Knoblauch nearly eight years ago. Then consider that Hunter is far more popular than Knoblauch was, both with the fans and in his own clubhouse.
Robinson Cano? That's a nice starting point. The Yankees could very well need to trade Chien-Ming Wang elsewhere for another trading chip, as the Twins don't need starting pitching. And boom, just like that, you've unloaded the first two bona fide homegrown players the Yankees have produced in a long time.
The Yankees need to think out of the box in their search to replace Bernie Williams in centerfield. Forget about Hunter or Johnny Damon, or even Vernon Wells. They don't need an All-Star bat, just someone who can catch the ball and keep the offense moving with strong fundamental hitting. [READ] |
