Moyer Pitched Game 3 With Stomach Virus

News Journal - Jamie Moyer was violently ill early Saturday and the previous night with a stomach virus that kept him from eating much.

The illness didn't appear to bother him on the mound as he provided the Phillies with another quality start, and they ultimately prevailed in Game 3.

Moyer's wife Karen told Fox television that he was "the sickest I've ever seen him in 22 years."

Moyer, 45, is the second-oldest player to appear in a World Series game. He allowed three runs in 6 1/3 innings of work.

"Throughout the course of the game, on the field, I didn't really feel it," Moyer said Sunday before Game 4 of the World Series. "I felt it more in the dugout. I don't know what it was, if it was a virus, the flu, whatever. To me, it was a moot point. There was no question as to whether I was going to pitch." [READ]
