Mike Maddux Joins Rangers' Staff

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel - Pitching coach Mike Maddux has decided to leave the Brewers and take a coaching position with the Rangers.

"He's moving on to a better deal that he couldn't turn down," said Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin. "They overwhelmed him with a huge deal."

Melvin said he had a multi-year contract offer on the table to retain Maddux, but the pitching coach opted not to accept that offer until he heard from the Rangers, who couldn't negotiate until his previous contract expired Friday. [READ]
