Padres Pick Up $9M Option On Giles

Daily Bulletin - The Padres have picked up the $9 million option on outfielder Brian Giles for the 2009 season.

Giles, 37, will be back for his seventh season with San Diego. The team had a choice between the option or a $3 million buyout.

He hit .306 with 40 doubles and 12 homers, along with 63 RBIs and 87 walks. [READ]
