Jays Could Be Only Team To Offer A.J. Five-Years?

Toronto Sun - A.J. Burnett may receive less money per year from Toronto, but they could be the only team to offer the five-year contract he covets.

"They asked about the chances of a five-year deal and that's one of the things they're looking for no matter where they go," Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi said Thursday of his recent discussions with Burnett's agent. "But I don't know at this point. I think we'd be open to doing anything within the working framework that we think makes sense for us. We're open to doing some things that will enable us to keep him here.

"But I've said this all along and I've said it to the player and the agent too -- we will not be the highest-paid club. This cannot be all about money from a standpoint from our end because we're not going to come in first." [READ]
