Pettitte's Return To Yankees 'Inevitable'

MLB.com - Andy Pettitte's return to the Yankees now appears to be "inevitable" as the two sides work out a monetary figure on a new contract.

Pettitte wants to pitch in the new Yankee Stadium while the team would like to have him in their rotation this coming season.

Citing "a source with knowledge of the pitcher's intentions," FOX Sports has reported that it was "virtually inevitable" that the two sides would eventually finalize a one-year agreement.

"Andy's a free agent, and the one thing I've been consistent in saying is that we'd like to have Andy back," Yankees' GM Brian Cashman said this week. "I know he'd like to come back. That's set up for maybe a positive end result. It doesn't guarantee it." [READ]
