With Lowe Gone, Mets Focus On Perez, Sheets

Yahoo! - With the Braves having landed Derek Lowe, the Mets appear to have turned their free agent attention towards pitchers Oliver Perez and Ben Sheets.

New York has shown interest in Perez, but have yet to make an offer. They have looked at Sheets, but are worried about his injury history.

"He was one of a group of pitchers that we've been looking into to fill a starting spot, but we've also felt that there are other guys out there who we like," Omar Minaya, the Mets' general manager, said about Lowe on Tuesday night. "We'll regroup and move on." [READ]
