Sox Add Second Year To Varitek Offer

MLB.com - The Red Sox have reportedly made a bid to keep free-agent catcher Jason Varitek in Boston, offering him a two-year deal.

The Boston Globe reported that the Red Sox "could ensure Varitek a second year by guaranteeing it outright or making it attainable through an option."

Varitek would guarantee the second year of a contract through "reachable incentives," such as games played or at-bats. [READ]
