A-Rod: I Took An Energy Booster

ESPN - Alex Rodriguez said in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon that a cousin injected him with a drug designed to give him an "energy boost" during his time with the Rangers.

The substance was obtained from the Dominican Republic, and taking it was a "stupid mistake" he said.

"I knew we weren't taking Tic Tacs," Rodriguez added.

Rodriguez began the conference by reading from a prepared statement. At the end, he paused and turned to his teammates and simply said "thank you." Sitting in the front row were Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada.

"We consulted no one. It was pretty evident we didn't know what we were doing," Rodriguez said. [READ]
