Teixeira Hopes To Get Off To Fast Start

Newsday - Mark Teixeira is known to be a slow starter, but is hoping that he'll get off to a strong start this spring with the Yankees.

"It always takes me a long time to get going," said Teixeira. "I feel like the work that [hitting coach] Kevin Long and I are putting in is really paying off. I felt like my righthanded swing was really lacking last year."

Teixeira's career numbers in April (.259 average) are drastically worse than the rest of the season (.295). [READ]
