Red Sox Still Covet Hanley Ramirez

Boston Herald - Hanley Ramirez was surprised recently to hear that the Red Sox tried to re-acquire him from the Marlins this offseason.

"When was that?" Ramirez asked Saturday. "Nobody told me anything about that. But what can I say? It's a business. Anything can happen, I guess."

According to multiple sources, Boston approached Florida in November to see if they could put together a package of players and prospects to land Ramirez, whom they dealt in November of 2005 to land right-hander Josh Beckett and third baseman Mike Lowell.

"I know (the trade) helped me," Ramirez said. "It helped me a lot because I got a chance to play in the big leagues. Now, everybody knows I can play in the big league." [READ]
