| 5th May, 2009 - 10:05 am | New York Daily News - A number of teammates and opposing players have come to Alex Rodriguez's defense, saying they find it hard to believe that he tipped pitches to opponents.
"A-Rod, from how I know him, that's not how he plays the game," Boston's David Ortiz said Monday night. "That sounds crazy. I'd have to see it to believe it."
"If he's tipping pitches on my team and giving them to the other guys, that's like a Benedict Arnold, that's like being a traitor. ... I doubt he did that. I know he didn't do that. It's just not in A-Rod's nature to do that," added Angels center fielder Torii Hunter.
"I don't think he's the type of guy who would do that. If he did it, it's weak, but I doubt it," Yanks' backup catcher Jose Molina told the Daily News. "It's really hard to say he did it. How are you going to know? You'd have to go through every video, and talk to every major league player. And, if at the end of the road it's true, how many of those guys are going to tell you, 'Yes, it's true'"?
"Alex is my friend, I'm going to support him," added Jorge Posada.
According to Selena Roberts, the author of "A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez," Rodriguez raised suspicion among teammates in Texas by making signals before the pitcher would begin his delivery. [READ] |
