Girardi: Penny Intentionally Hit A-Rod

ESPN - Yankees manager Joe Girardi believes that Red Sox pitcher Brad Penny intentionally hit Alex Rodriguez in the first inning on Thursday night.

"Penny's control was pretty good," Girardi said. "I thought it was on purpose. That is all part of baseball."

New York called the commissioner's office on Friday to ask that Penny be disciplined.

After Rodriguez was hit, both teams were warned and there were no further incidents. [READ]
