New York Daily News - Yankees catcher Jorge Posada says that he is fired up by criticism that the team is better off without him behind the plate.

"It kind of fuels me, to tell you the truth," Posada told the New York Daily News. "I want to prove them wrong."

Posada, who will turn 38 this August, has two years left on his contract.

"I have a lot of fun behind the plate, I enjoy it and I don't think I'm hurting the team," he said. "I don't want to hurt the team. When the time comes that I think I am, I'll do what I need to do."

Critics say he should hand the catching role over to another player. [READ]
