Mets Put Perez Back In Starting Rotation

New York Post - The Mets have put Oliver Perez back in the starting rotation.

Perez, who has been on the disabled list since May 3, will start against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

He is struggling with a 9.97 ERA this season and a supposed injured right knee.

"I think for me, I'd like to see the velocity up," manager Jerry Manuel said. "That's just one guy I like to see the velocity up. The reason being is, if you don't have that great command but you have velocity, then you can get away with some things that are questionable.

"Guys can miss some pitches if you have extra life on your pitches. For me, I think that's the key for Ollie. I don't think Ollie is a guy who's going to nibble and do this type of stuff. I think Ollie is a power left-handed pitcher. And I think he needs that power." [READ]
