| 7th July, 2009 - 8:25 am | ESPN - The Brewers are not happy with Ryan Braun's recent call for some changes.
"It was inappropriate for him to say what he said, and I'm not happy about it," general manager Doug Melvin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Monday.
"To make the statements he made and also get on his teammates like that, it was irresponsible on his part. It just ticked me off."
Braun voiced his frustrations on Sunday after the team lost 8-2 to the rival Cubs, calling out the team's starting pitching.
"[The Cubs] starting pitching is a lot better than ours," Braun said. "They threw the ball a lot better than our starters did. They certainly swung the bats better than we did. Clearly they were the better team. It's nice to get the one win but they clearly outplayed us and outperformed us all series."
Braun then called out Melvin, looking for a bit of a shakeup.
"We're at the point right now where it would be important for us to go out there and acquire somebody," Braun said.
"I know [Melvin] is trying to make our ballclub better. I know he recognizes the importance of making a move and making it soon, but at the same time I think everybody's recognized there's a lot of teams that are still in the race." [READ] |
