Phillies: Getting Lee Improves Our Chances To Repeat

MLB.com - The Phillies are confident that they can return to the World Series, especially after adding Cliff Lee to their starting rotation.

"We think we have a chance to win the World Series again this year," closer Brad Lidge told MLB.com. "I feel like we all feel we're as good as anybody. We've been there before. We have an excellent team this year, and we've been playing like it. The addition makes us feel that way. Obviously, there's a difference between feeling that way and proving it.

"There are still some great teams in our league. The Cardinals did a lot to get their offense stronger. The Dodgers. But we feel like we can be as good as anybody, and hopefully we are."

Outfielder Shane Victorino shares Lidge's assessment.

"It puts us in a better position," Victorino said of the addition of Lee. "Not to say we couldn't have gotten where we want to be without them, but getting a guy like Lee is the cherry on the cake. That's what we've got. We've got the pieces, but we put that cherry on top." [READ]
